The Not For Tourists Guide to Los Angeles is the essential urban handbook that thousands of Los Angelenos rely on daily. It divides the city into fifty-seven mapped neighborhoods and pinpoints all of... This description may be from another edition of this product.
NFT Los Angeles 2008 is a greatly informative book for the new LA resident or, yes, even the tourist! I purchased it before a vacation to LA in August and really used it a lot. The maps cover a nice area and are quite a bit more condensed than say, the Thomas Guide, but were still very useful. It covers every area in LA, from South Central to the beaches to Glendale, so it was nice to have around. It is also FULL of other information, such as special sections just for Beaches, Parks and Hiking, the Studios, etc. that are FULL of useful info (parking, admission, directions, reviews, etc.). I gave to my friend (who lives in LA) when I left and definitely plan to buy the updated version when we move there next year.
Awesome Guide!

This guide is amazing!! If you don't have a navigation system and you need to find your way around LA, this is the next best thing! My favorite thing is it tells me where all the coffee shops are :-)
Don't leave home without it!

Everytime I leave my NFTO book behind I always regret it. Whether it is to find the nearest bank ATM or because I am too busy playing tourist in LA and get lost, I miss having it near me on the front seat of my car. The handy phone numbers and venue information in the back are great and the little elastic band helps you find your place so you can read in traffic!
Wonderful guide

The title says it all. A great way to see and do things you'd want to do and see if you lived there. Also full of helpful hints regarding traffic.
This book is a CAR MUST-HAVE

I don't know what I would have done without this book in my car ALL THE TIME. There's nothing like being trapped in traffic and whipping out the book to find alternate routes - or when you need to fill up on gas, or looking for the other 24-hour fitness and there it is listed. I love the frank commentary of neighborhoods which are so accurate. And for the commentator below from Tucson who said he didn't care about where to get his car washed all over LA, when he moves here and realizes the great majority of LA needs to know where the closest car wash is.
