Book Overview

The next ice age could begin any day! Next week, next month, next year, it's not a question of if, only when. One day you'll wake up--or won't wake up, rather--buried beneath nine stories of snow as... This description may be from another edition of this product.

excellant book - negative reviews without fact or logic

I found the book to be very intriquing and thoughtful, much more so than the current Nazi style propaganda on climate change that the negative reviews here reflect. None of the negative reviews actually cite the science and illogic they claim is so obvious. The carbon dioxide cycle LAGS, does not lead, ice-ages. We are in a regular, normal warming cycle according to all the records for all three types of ice-ages. Carbon levels have been much higher before modern man and his puny carbon additions.

Outstanding Prose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

According to radio personality Michael Reagan people have been talking about an impending ice age for at least thirty years. If an impending ice age is really such a hot topic, how come its dwarfed by literature on global warming? Thirty years is a long time for any prophesy to incuabate and not get entrenched. Even if Felix is wrong, he is one of the most articulate science writers to ever grace the craft. He deserves great credit for this literary treasure.

This guy has done his homework!

As soon as word gets out about this book, it will be an instant best-seller. Robert Felix builds his case by methodically going through all the evidence that has been amassed on geomagnetic reversals and excursions, periods of increased volcanism, mean sea levels, heavy metal deposition, ice ages and periods of increased glaciation, mass extinctions, and the periodicity of these events in context of our planet, our solar system, and our galaxy. He also debunks several of the popular myths such as asteroid impact and the current greenhouse gas theory. His research is exhaustive - 28 page bibliography (in a 10-point font)and his documentation is equal to that you might expect from a doctoral thesis - No hand waving explanations here. And yet the book is written in an easy to follow, logical progression that leads the reader to the conclusion that we are on the verge of the next great period of glaciation, if not in the beginning of it. I've arranged to get at least 10 more copies of this book to send to people I know will be able to appreciate it.Eighteen dollars for a personalized autographed copy with free shipping is a steal (http://iceagenow.com) I'm going to get mine now before demand is so great that this kind of personal service is impossible. His sobering conclusion is that when it happens, it happens all at once, not over thousands or millions of years. Just imagine nine stories of snow in a day. Think it's impossible? Think again. You need to read this now.

Crucial information for humanity

It's not a matter of IF, but WHEN. The geological record shows the clockwork-like cycles of the ice ages, and Robert Felix presents the evidence in an easy to read format. His tones of urgency in his writing make for a compelling and suspenseful read. I found it hard to put the book down, and have read it three times. Hundreds of subsequent radio interviews reinforce that Mr. Felix is not out to 'make a buck' or to scare people, he's truly concerned about humanity's vulnerability to abrupt climate cooling, and is worried that our attention is focused in the wrong direction. I recommend this book to everyone as a wake up call that global warming will not kill us all, but an Ice Age very well could. I also recommend his information-packed website at www.iceagenow.com

The coming of the next ice age

After hearing an interview with Robert Felix on a radio show, I desperately wanted this book, but for some reason I just never ordered it. Well, after I finally did, I'm not disappointed in what I read.Whether you believe that the next ice age is coming or not; and whether you believe that the dinosaurs, mammoths, etc. were wiped out by an ice age or not; there's more to this book than just that.Mr. Felix goes into great details to explain what scientists theorize makes an ice age happens. He mainly describes polar-magnetic reversals (where the north and south poles flip); nuclear explosions on the sun, earth, and miles above the earth (those creating the Aurora Borealis); earthquakes and earthquake lightes; sudden climatic changes; etc.The book also tells us how an instantaneous ice age can occur (feet upon feet of snow in hours). Notes are made about when 5 inches of rain falls that can actually add up to 50 inches of snow. He goes on and on about places that have received this much rain in such short periods of time, going on that it can happen with snow, not just rain. The only problem I have with this theory is that when it rains so much, its usually in an isolated area, not hemisphere-wide like he's trying to suggest. All in all, I think it makes for one hell of a book. It's definitely one that I'm going to keep for years and years to come! But, when it starts snowing... Be afraid. Be very afraid.
