Peter, a recent college graduate, is living at home in Norwalk, OH, where he infrequently works as a substitute teacher and, instead, spends most of his time dodging responsibility, having breakfast at a local diner and walking around the downtown day after day. He finds himself in a situation of financial straits and failing relationships. He spends a great deal of his time wondering what he should be doing with his life, and as is the case with so many things in northern Ohio, his hope is dwindling. Through scheming, planning, and a series of misadventures with his friends, Peter discovers that he must come to terms with Norwalk, OH, with everything that the small city represents for him. Ultimately, he hopes to find himself, though the odds of that happening are improbable.
