Updating Classics Amazingly Well

I have been reading Debra White Smith's novels since she wrote the 7 Sisters series. Her books are fitting to today's era and well written. What I love about the Austen series is that it takes the classics of yesterday and updates them into today's world. I just received Northpointe Chalet for Christmas and I had it completed after 1 day. I don't want to give away the story but I know if you've enjoyed Jane Austen's novels you'll love Debra White Smith's updated versions. Enjoy and Happy Reading.

My favorite of all teh Jane Austen Series

I have read all fo the Jane Austen Series and this was by far my favorite. I loved the twist and turns of the plots and the fun easy romance of the characters. Thanks again, for taking a classic story that has been remade before into something raunchier and keeping it clean and fun to read.

Well-written and engaging

I found "Northpointe Chalet" well-written and engaging, with personable characters, blossoming relationships, and plot twists that kept things exciting. I enjoy contemporary Christian fiction, and this clean romance was a great read. I finished it in two days! Congratulations to Debra White Smith for another great story.

A fun retelling of Austen's Northanger Abbey

Northanger Abbey has always been a favorite novel of mine, so I was excited to finally be able to read Debra White Smith's Northpointe Chalet. As I have come to expect from the Austen series, Smith captures the heart of Jane Austen's stories, and brings them to the twenty first century in an engaging light read that is sure to entertain. Her writing is compelling, as usual, and manages to weave the themes of family tension in a way that is completely believable.

Northpointe Chalet

Kathy Moore has come to Northpointe, Colorado for adventure and independence from her controlling mother. As a 22-year-old bookstore owner, when she's not running her business she reads suspense and mystery novels. Then on one stormy night, Kathy meets Ben Tilman, a pastor, to whom she is immediately attracted. Despite first thinking Kathy too young and bold, Ben also finds himself drawn to the cheerful, yet sometimes painfully unsubtle, woman. I haven't read the book this particular Jane Austin spin-off is from (Northanger Abbey) so I can't say how well Northpointe Chalet follows the original. However, I personally found this book as well written as all of Debra White Smith's previous Austin Series books. First Impressions (Pride and Prejudice) will always be my favorite in this series but Northpointe Chalet has become my second choice.
