. This story is about a boy that has traveled north to a mining camp shipping a letter to the camp and on his way he runs into new friends or enemies and even trouble. To start this all of there was a boy named Robert Pacquette and he is having trouble in school because he shot a rubber band at this girl. So then he had to see the teacher after school. When Robert had to do an extra credit report on a old iron miner. Then he is swept into a boy life in the old mining days. The boy was from Albany, New York and travels to the new life in Michigan's upper peninsula. Then Robert runs into this person called Michel Shane who takes Robert to Green Bay. Then Michel is injured so then Robert has to travel back threw the wilderness trail alone back to Marquette. On his way he finds this Indian that pulls out this pipe and asks Robert to smoke with him but he wouldn't smoke the pipe so the Indian says no smoke no trust. So then the Indian helped Robert on his travels. I recommend this book to kids and adults because of the perfect wording that this author used. This book is very cool because it is about the outdoors and nature. This book is so graphic that she gets down to the last twig. I really enjoyed this book because it was my type of book.

The book was very interesting and well worded. It always kept me on the edge of my seat because I never knew what would happen next. I think everyone should read a book like this. Even if you are not into mining or Michigan, it is still a GREAT book!
