American Plain Jane meets British spy in Venice!

Nobody Does It Better by Jennifer LaBrecque is a Harlequin Blaze novel and is part of the Lust in Translation series. It is about Holly Smith, an American Plain Jane type who is a germ phobic and Gage Carswell, a part-time British Secret Service spy/wealthy art gallery owner. Holly is traveling to Venice, Italy to meet the mother who left her when she was a child. Holly though is unaware that she is being set-up by someone. Gage thinks that Holly is a dealer in the uranium black-market, and he has been sent to spy on her and seduce her if needed. Let the games begin! Gage is attracted to Holly after seeing her in the loo naked. To get closer to Holly, he poses as a tour guide and takes her on tours of Venice. It doesn't take long for him to figure out that Holly is not a spy or criminal. But he still has to figure out who is setting Holly up to take a fall. There are some humorous moments and some very steamy moments between Holly and Gage. Jennifer knows how to write steamy scenes! I enjoyed this story, but the emphasis on Holly being a Plain Jane type and Gage being so handsome just got on my nerves after a while. I was beginning to wonder if Holly deserved to be with Gage after a while. What I liked about this story was Gage! I could just picture Matthew Goode as Gage in my head (love Matthew)! I kinda was picturing Holly as a Mandy Moore type (think Chasing Liberty with Matthew and Mandy). Gage's dialogue even reminded me of Matthew. One disappoint with the novel is that Holly's germaphobic ways could actually been more part of the storyline and been more humorous. If you going to make it part of her character and the story, go all out. I thought that part fell flat. 4 stars!

amusing The Spy Who Loves Me espionage romance

After ending her no-go relationship with her boyfriend who called her a compulsive "neurotic mess", American schoolteacher Holly Smith vows to find her biological mother who deserted the family when she was a toddler; she needs to know why. This is the first flight for Atlanta's Holly Smith as she heads to Venice, Italy. Sitting next to Holly on the plane is English tour guide Gage Carswell, who actually is an undercover t British Secret Service agent working the Gorgon case in hopes of capturing this uranium black-market dealer. Holly fits the profile of the type of female Gorgon obsesses over because of her aqua eyes. As Gage and Holly begin to fall in love, he fears for her life if Gorgon captures his woman. NOBODY DOES IT BETTER is an amusing espionage romance as the British Secret service believes Holly is a brilliant undercover agent who uses her neurosis to conceal her mission. Since she is the worst choice as a spy and Gage wonders if he is falling in love with the enemy, fans will laugh out loud at their antics. 007 is tuned upside down as Jennifer LaBrecque provides a jocular The Spy Who Loves Me contemporary.
