Katherine March turns up after three years to ask for Jed Stone's help. Her fiance, Frank and a female investigator were murdered about three months ago. Now she is pregnant and must protect her unborn child. And boy, is she loaded down with emotional problems. A bit of guilt because she is pregnant and she had told Jed that she would not marry him or have his child if he was the last man on earth. But she suspects that someone is trying to kill her. And hers and Jed's past stand between them. Jedidiah Stone is a very private person. He would not share his "little adventures" with Kate. All he wanted to do was protect her from his sordid world. I could not get up too much likeing for Kate. She was a bit of a promuscuious jerk. She could never do as she was told. Stemmed from always fighting with her military father. The mystery was good - the secondary characters were great [along with Jed] - the pace dragged only when the story focused on their personal problems and sex - nice little incidents to flesh out the story - pretty good read. Just what did the investigator, Patsy find out that got her killed? Was Frank supposed to get killed? Why was someone stalking Kate? Definitely Recommend for the Mature reader - M
