Most of the texts in this volume were written on nightly walks through the village of Eressos, on Lesvos Island, Greece, our home for many years.
Embraced by the tender and sometimes ferocious arms of the northeast Aegean, Lesvos Island is like a wise woman. The subject of darkness is explored in detail on these pages, but it has not been given a negative connotation. It is in darkness that the most beautiful beings grow, from the seed in the shelter of the Earth to the baby in its mother's womb. Darkness and light are the two faces of the absolute.
