The Committee, a secret government organization, destroyed an Earth colony of an ancient intelligent species known as the Greys. A Grey terrestrial craft escaping the colony's collapse is recovered by the US Military, stored in underground bunkers and studied by scientists. The Greys track and locate the missing craft, discover the bunkers, and demolish them.
