By car or plane, I travel a lot, and this book is exceptionally handy when making travel plans - in fact, this is the second one I'm buying . . . my father-in-law keeps borrowing mine. Not only does it give advance information to what's ahead, it's faster than using the hotel directories to select a hotel for the night. I simply locate the area where I want to be, and look up which hotels are nearby. In addition, it translates the exit numbers into mile markers for those states which identify exits by number rather than mile marker. I expect that as I continue to use it, new ways to benefit will keep popping up.
