Excellent resource

This, along with James ("Mickey") Efird's companion book "The Old Testament Writings", provide a scholarly--yet highly readable--examination of the Bible for the serious lay student (at a time when so many works seem so superficial). They both significantly advanced my understanding of the Bible.
