Excellent condition

Great Guide!

This book is in tutorial style, so you learn by doing, which is great! I purchased this book for my administrative assistant course in school and it is easy to follow, easy to understand, and really helps you learn Microsoft Office Access. Even if you have used Access before you will still learn a lot of things you didn't know before.

Access 2003

New Perspectives on MS Office Access 2003 is excellent. Access is a complex program and this book presents each section in a logical, well-explained way. I am most impressed with the exercises. They provide in depth, step-by-step lessons with plenty of screen shots. There is no "hunt and peck" searching for the buttons and no question about what to click next. The reviews and the case projects at the end of each chapter provide additional practice. All the practical, hands on work is a great advantage and so far it is all error-free. I highly recommend this book! CH

Comprehensive

This book is much better then the Bible series or Teach yourself in 24 hours series, while they both cover the topics neither have the user friendly graphical approach this series takes. The author covers all the bases and starts with tutorials on windows and office to ensure you have a good foundation to proceed. You learn the topics by doing and using good real world examples, the use of graphics helps you learn all the parts of Access and reinforce what the author is covering. At the end of each tutorial is a review and case studies that have you build multiple databases, you work with the same databases throughout the book adding on features learned in the chapters. You will also be well prepared to take and pass the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) test for Access.

Best Step By Step Book for Access 2003 Beginners

As a business application user I started studying Access 2003 using a book titled "Sams Teach Yourself Microsoft Office Access 2003 in 24 Hours"; by Alison Balter. That book has a more conceptual approach and I felt I was taking too long to learn the fundamental steps of how to build a database with limited previous exposure to Access 2003. This book was very user friendly with less geek-speak and more graphics to show you how to achieve your database objectives in Access 2003. If you complete the exercises and then the challenge problems at the end of each chapter you'll quickly be the Access 2003 expert in a business administration setting. I highly recommend it for business application users before any another text book on Access 2003!
