A Vintage Baking Library.

This thing is massive 416 pages . It's got so many great recipes, cookies ,cake , cheesecake pastry. You name it. Some of the recipes are ready to try some might need a tweak. I already tried the Genoise Cake on pg 128. I've never tried the Genoise cake but this made it look do-able. It came out perfect. If you watch the baking shows I do you will find many of the recipes here. OK Bread , the title says " New " baking cookies book but it's copyright is 1998 . The bread recipes are very inclusive of bread machines. Let's get straight the " sour dough starters " are not true sour dough as we understand it today. I do think with the yeasted facsimile or your own established starter these recipes will be successful. The photos were probably state of the art in 1998 . Now they are true retro images however, they are inspired and helpful. This book as lots of good tips maybe some are out dated as far as tools and techniques. But still fun and useful. The table of contents and index make it easy to find what you are looking for. I think beginners and Star 🌟 Bakers will find something to love in this Book.

Baking at it's best

I already own a hardback and ring bound editions of this cookbook. It's my go to for most everything. I have ordered 2 more for family members. You can't beat the Italian Cream Cake, the Cheesecake pumpkin pie or the Carrot cake recipes. The Cream pie recipes are pretty close to what I already make. This is one for your cookbook collection and one you will use often.

One of the first books I grab!

I consider myself an intermediate baker, and this is one of my very favorite baking books that I have in my large collection of cookbooks (most having to do with baking). It has a couple sections dedicated to complicated desserts, but as with every Better Homes and Gardens cookbook, the instructions are clear and easy to follow. If you're looking for a fancy-schmancy baking book, this one is not for you. This is a great cookbook to use if you're trying to find something to bring to a potluck or give as a gift, because it includes many classic recipes and many recipes that are familiar and comforting. If you're just going to get one baking book, I would recommend this one, for sure!

Rewarding and value for money!

Better Homes & Gardens cookbooks have been proven to be reliable sources for cooks in search of recipes, even beginner/ aspiring cooks. I have always loved baking, but oftentimes I found the recipes I tried[from the internet mainly] turned out to be disappointing. Not so many of the recipes from this baking book. I have tried many of the cookies, and cake recipes, and they always turn out great even on the first attempt. The reason I gave this baking book 4 stars out of 5 is bec I havent tried the other recipes such as the pies & breads, so i could not honestly say they were good without trying them out. That being said, I think this baking book [small yet hefty with tons of recipes] is a worthy addition to any aspiring cook/baker!

Nearly perfect

This book has been extremely helpful in enhancing my baking skills and broadening my baking horizons. Most recipes I have tried have worked out in looks and all in taste, save for the sourdough bread, which didn't taste sour at all. In particular, the Apple-Maple claws and the Blueberry Buckle were huge successes. Just reading this book makes me happy, let alone using the recipes. There are also very handy notes, nutritional information and the recipes are written in a convenient format. I definitely recommend it. I give it 4 stars only because the Red Rasberry Twirls and the Sourdough didn't work out (the Rasberry Twirl dough was too dry to handle) and I never give things full marks. All in all, a very good baking book.

Baking mad Simple

I am not a very experienced baker, however, I ordered this book to help me out with my Holiday cookies. I want to say that this book makes baking easy even for those of us who are not experts. The directions are simple and explanitory. I also found the side tips and pictures to be extremely helpful. This book is truely a must for anyone who loves to bake, is learning to bake, or needs some new baking suggestions.

The Baking Book Which No Person Should Be Without

As a high school student I would turn to this book whenever I needed to make something for a school event or 4-H project. My classmates adored the banana split cake and the chocolate swirl cheesecake, and my best friend fell in love with one of the pudding cakes. Pair this book with the Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook for some fantastic and memorable meals.
