a fast and profitable read

This was a fast and profitable read for me. The techniques are simple and forward. No magic or miracles promised, just some old-fashioned horse-sense for understanding and navigating the salary-negotiating game and how and why to develop your own negotiating strategies beforehand. The mind-opening section for me was the "budget-fudgit-judgit" stages described in Chapter Three "Salary-Making Rule 1: When to Discuss Money". This book also contains good strategies to employ at salary-review time.

IT WORKS!!!

IT WORKS! After reading Jack Chapman's book, I have completely changed my negotiating strategies. As a business owner and entrepreneur, I use Chapman's techniques routinely in negotiating win-win contracts. As a Career Consultant, I have recommended this book to every client I work with. When we get to the negotiating part of the coaching session, I only teach the "Chapman" method. My client's success rate at getting better hiring and exit packages stuns not only the client, but my colleagues as well. If you're still not convinced IT WORKS, here's proof: I had one client who felt he was grossly underpaid. And what a bargain - if anyone knew what was between the covers, and what an incredible impact it would have on them financially, they would gladly spent ten times the cover price. I am an independent career consultant working with several major outplacement and career coaching entities. As a recognized authority on the subject of job search, I have copyrighted my own program and book on the topic. But when it comes to negotiating techniques, I bow to the Master. I highly recommend "Negotiating Your Salary" to everyone who wants to improve their financial position! Low Time and Cost Investment, Very High RETURN!

This book was the best 110 pages (or so) that I ever read regarding career advice. Can't emphasize that enough. And it is enjoyable reading too - not dry like one might expect this topic to be. I pull it out again and again. Thanks JC.

Well Worth It!

This book helped me get a 25% increase at my current job, and an added perk of my health club membership. It's also taught me tactics and new attitudes in negotiating for future positions. Creative, straightforward, quick read.
