The other reviewer already gave a plot synopsis, so I won't do that. I WILL tell you that this book is a gem! Although written for kids, this book and the others in the series are entertaining enough for adults to enjoy reading too, and you'll find yourself reading these books over and over again. The characters have well-developed personalities and interact with each other in a believable, understandable manner. There are even hints given as to what will happen in the movie (these books are a prequel series). I thought that was a fun little inclusion on the part of the writers. Also, there are lovely black and white drawings placed randomly throughout the story, and these pictures look just like they came from the film. Fun to read, fun to look at--what more could you ask for in a book?

When Triton's childhood friend, Nefazia from the Indian Ocean visits the palace, the princesses are very excited. All except for Aquata. She is convinced that Nefazia has come to marry Triton and convinces her sisters likewise. Ariel does not think that is logical. But after she fails to carry out one of her sisters' plans because of what she knows is right, her sisters exclude her from their plans to scare Nefazia away. Soon Ariel uncovers a plot, which if not corrected, could have a disastrous ending. Can Ariel and her sisters correct the mistake in time?
