Southern Fried, Warm Hearted Humor

Whit Johnson and Andrew Hawkins are best friends, college students, hormone and football-crazed, and suddenly, insanely determined to see the Georgia Bulldogs play Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl, New Orleans, four days later. Only, they have no money, no tickets, no working automobile, and no way to get any of the above. The book is the story of their adventure and what happens along the way. Of course I won't tell you how it turns out, you'll have to read the book. When you do, you will laugh yourself silly. I can tell you that everything that could possibly go wrong does, but the boys still have the adventure of a lifetime. And--oh yes--they learn about themselves in the process. This is one of the all time funny road trip and coming of age novels, with a unique Southern flavor. Darrell Huckaby is a brilliant comedic writer. Not only does he keep you laughing, he gets you to care about his characters, who actually care a great deal about each other and those around them. The book is not without flaws--editing flaws, a large number of typos--but this hardly detracts from the fast paced, warm-hearted, laugh-out-loud story. Oh yes, this book is not politically correct. If you're easily offended, it might not be for you. I enjoyed it wholeheartedly and recommend Need Two highly. Reveiwed by Louis N. Gruber

Need a Good Laugh?

I never laughed so hard in my life. This is a tale that could come from any small town, full of truth and hilarity. The characters will remind you of somebody you know, and you WILL laugh. Sit back, put up your feet, read a while, and don't take life so seriously.

Reliving the Georgia National Championship Season - 1980

This novel is for all fans of college football, especially those who attended the University of Georgia during the 1980 football season. It is rich with details, the characters are believable, and there is plenty of good Southern humor. An excellent read.

For every SEC college graduate and football fan. . .

All baby boomers born in the South, who attended SEC colleges and remember football trips, will find this book enjoyable. It is an easy read -- and for most of us, a nostalgic journey. However, the characters are well-developed, and the humor is virtually non-stop. We haven't passed it along to anyone who did not enjoy it throughly!
