Great Reference

Good for the East to remind you what to look for in nature and when. Lots of interesting information.

The guidebook for guides

This is the perfect companion for the amateur naturalist. John Serrao leads nature walks in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. The walks are exercises in awareness for all the participants-live-changing events that refocus attention on the natural world. This book is as easy to understand as Serrao himself. Organized like a calendar, it's the perfect way to sensitize yourself or someone else to what's going on in the natural world. Naturalists Bible

I have personally met John Serraro many times in my work as a naturalist at Flat Rock Brook Nature Center, Engelwood, NJ and his book, Nature's Events, have been my bible when going to teach/lead a group at any time of the year. It is an account of week by week what you will find in nature in the northern NJ, southern CT, or western PA areas. John is the foremost naturalist of this region and his book is extremely useful and written for the budding and experienced naturalist/nature lover in each of us!
