Excellent

Certainly with the current health care crisis, this book rings true. Dr. Ratner's statement, " It is generally recognized that America is the most overmedicated, most over-operated, and most over-inoculated country in the world. It is also the most anxiety-ridden country with regard to health". He goes on to say; "To put it in its broadest perspective, we make health an end to itself. This is a sign of our materialism. We have forgotten that health is really a means that enables a person to do his work and do it well. There is another paradox here: we are the wealthest country in the world - yet one of the unhealthiest countries in the world." Excellent read, and a must read for all those in our country wondering how we can survive the current health care system.

Dr. Herbert Ratner, lover of God, his fellow man, and truth

I can do no better in reviewing this book than quote from Dr. Gregory White's afterword: "This book compiles only a few of the articles which Herbert Ratner has written. The subjects which he has addressed are mind-boggling in their number and in their variety. How many contemporary writers have published articles on AIDS, feminism, abortion, euthanasia, population, contraception, natural family planning, the polio vaccine, breastfeeding, nutrition, the family, child rearing, discipline, sex education, medical ethics, medical education, obstetrics, pediatrics, surgeons, physicians, science, art, health, nature, wisdom, Hippocrates, Aristotle, St. Luke, St. Thomas Aquinas, Harvey, Montessori, Kinsey, and Kosnik? And made sense doing it? In this age of specialization, in which every narrow field has its coterie of experts, it is unsettling to encounter someone with the audacity to "take on," as Dr. Ratner would say, physical scientists, social scientists, politicians, philosophers, theologians, and all the other gurus of modern life. But take them on he does, all of them, not as a specialist himself, not as a would-be expert trying to crash their little parties, but as one who understands what he himself has been taught, that the Author of the Book of Nature and the Author of the Book of Scripture are One, One who does not contradict Himself." Dr. Ratner writes clearly and his words ring true because they resonate with what you already understand. He was a good man who was willing to swim against the tide because that was where the truth was. And he found the time to be a friend to me for which I am eternally grateful.
