Magic is all around us - in stones, flowers, stars, the dawn wind and the sunset cloud. All we need is the ability to see it, understand it, and apply it. Natural Magic explains how to practise the age-old white magic that village wise women have used for centuries. It deals with the magic of herbs and flowers, of the four elements, of numbers and colours, amulets and talismans, how to read cards, how to interpret dreams, and much more. There are chapters on the secrets of sex magic, and on the use of traditional spells. If you want to learn to charm warts, to cast a love spell, or to plant a magical garden, this book will tell you how. An essentially practical treatise, which sets out to show how magic can be for everyone, and how, indeed, it has always been inherent in human life and nature. Both those who are new to the practice of magic and those with experience will find it delightful reading and an informative handbook for use in daily life.
I aquired this book used years ago, and I devoured it in one sitting, and find myself referring back to it often.
Anything by this author is worth reading.

We lost a treasure when Doreen Valiente crossed over. But her legacy is very evident in books like this. If you can get your hands on anything by this woman, do it. No nonesense and written with a lively, witty style. A treasure.
every witch should read this

My mother read this when I was a child. She was a practising witch and raised me to revere nature and to respect the craft.Thirty years later, I found this book and since the shop collapsed around me, I decided I should buy it. I stayed in the bath and read it in a morning. I realise that many of the ideas I grew up with, that influence how I now practice my craft and write about it, stem from Doreen's writing.Everyone should read this book, because it reminds us where magic comes from - not from the publishers wanting to launch another spell book on a gullible public looking for quick fixes for life's problems. No, magic is present in all of us and the world that gives us life. That's real magic.I sense towards the end Doreen was rushing a bit to meet publishing deadlines, or perhaps she'd said enough but they wanted a few more pages. But hey, who's perfect? What's important in this book is that it's written from the heart and provides valuable insight into the mind of Doreen Valiente, and it will inspire future generations to keep their magic real.
A Classic Among Classics

It is a testament to the quality of this book that it is still in print, and has been for nearly thirty years. It's a lovely book written by a lovely woman, demonstrating how natural magic influences our lives, and how we can interact with it to enrich our lives and ourselves.
An excellent addition to any serious witch's library

This book is an excellent view of natural magic as practiced by many witches, especially in Britain. This book is one of the first to cover this topic and it does so in a thorough and highly readable manner. I highly recommend this to anyone interested in this topic or interested in Witchcraft in general. Worth the quest.
