Dr. McKenna offers information on the herbal remedies, nutritional supplements, and dietary changes that can combat bacterial infections without the use of antibiotics. This description may be from another edition of this product.
Way back in the 1940s, the discovery of antibiotics represented a great medical breakthrough that saved many lives in the years since. Unfortunately the over-prescription and unwise use of these medicines have created resistant organisms and in this age of the superbug it is wise to become familiar with the natural alternatives that fight infection and that usually have fewer and less serious side effects. In this updated and revised of his work, the author considers a variety of strains of infection that have developed resistance since the first edition of this book. The sections on homeopathic, nutritional and herbal remedies and cures for infection have been enlarged and brought up to date. From this book, it is clear that it is still possible and even preferable to fight infection without the use of antibiotics. At the same time, McKenna acknowledges the value of antibiotics in many instances. This is a valuable guide to alternative ways of staying healthy, and provides a balanced look at health and the antibiotic question. The book includes a bibliography and thorough index. Another great book that deals with this topic is Leon Chaitow's Antibiotic Crisis, Antibiotic Alternatives.

Natural alternatives, which are actually original cures. In the current medical community antibiotics are becoming less and less effective, for a number of reasons, so we need to return to the natural cures and old ways. The problem with this is- who knows which herbs, how to use them, and what effects they have. This book is a great beginning resource. Written by Dr. John McKenna, he explains various methods for healing or treating. This book contains case by case studies and results. It is not difficult to believe that nature works better than synthetic, it has always been that way.I recommend this book, and studying Native American and Asian natural healing methods. Please be responsible when choosing the herbs recommended in this book. If possible, grow your own(organically) and replant. Mother nature supplies the ingredients, but we must replenish so that everyone may enjoy the benefits.Enjoy the Natural Antibiotics book, pick one up for a friend while your at it!
I highly recommend it!

This book is a great guide and reference for parents who ever had any doubts about the need for antibiotics as prescribed so readily by the family doctor. Explains very clearly when they are necessary and when not.
