The National Geographic books are a huge part of my collection. I love the wonderful photography and text provided with each of their books. Hats is no exception . This book shows off a wide range of hats that represent many things to many people all over the world. This book is a nice addition to anyone who appreciates fashion, history and culture all rolled into one fabulous book!

If a picture is worth a thousand words this is a source of inspiration that should be in every Milliners' library!
National Geographic Moments: Hats (National Geographic Moments)
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 17 years ago
This is a great little picture book showing a variety of hats with their place in a society. There isn't much verbage, but it really is about a specific moment, and the place of a hat in that moment. The organization of the pictures seems a bit haphazard, or there is a greater picture that I am missng. But all in all, a great addition for those into the anthropology of hats or just an interest in Ethnic Headwear.
An appealing gift-book of photographs
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 17 years ago
This sturdy little hardback (7 inches by 7.5 inches) is a fine gift-book for that person in your life who makes hats, wears hats, is fascinated by fashion, or just likes quirky photos. There is no real informative text on anything like the history of millinery fashion or hat-making techniques. Just captions stating place and date. You do, however, get 86 striking photos (both color and black-and-white) that show men and women of many different places and time periods posing with some often very striking head-gear. Some are small photos, and some are a double-spread over both pages. Notable: a photo of exuberant naval graduates throwing their white hats in the air at Annapolis, Maryland; a sea of red berets viewed from above in a parade in Spain; and a little Russian kid in a soldier's outfit complete with a huge fur cap. It's not an essential book, but it's fun.
