Much more than a Travel book

Being a fan of travel books generally, I enjoyed 'Naked in Dangerous Places' so much more than others I have read. Cash Peters gives you an insight into what places as diverse as Dubai, Cambodia, Morocco and Alaska are like for the independent traveller. The link between locations is the TV show 'Stranded' which Cash presented and this adds another dimension to the book. Parts of it are very funny and the irony of the scene where he really is 'stranded'at Heathrow airport is not lost on the reader. I loved this book so much, I went and read 'Gullibles Travels' again, an earlier book of his. Both are perfect holiday reading!

A hoot

Good travel books are hard to find. This one is a must. Cash Peters is a hoot, as he shares his behind-the-scenes look at how television programs are born and die. He casts a very funny and canny eye on exotic places and memorable people while sharing his often sensitive world view. Best of all, Mr. Peters can write! I hope Mr. Peters keeps traveling and keeps writing his often hilarious adventures. More, please!

I Thoroughly Enjoyed This Book!

Having read and loved "Gullible's Travels", the last book I read by Cash Peters, I was eagerly anticipating this one. I was NOT disappointed! If you are (were?) a fan of his show, the look that you get behind the scenes is eye opening and hilariously funny. Don't know the show? You'll still enjoy the book. Well done Mr. Peters! Now..how long do we have to wait for your next project?

Irreverent, Witty, Moving, and Downright Funny Travel Memoir

I absolutely love this book! Cash Peters is self-deprecating, witty, touching, and laugh-out-loud funny when describing how he, a decidedly unadventurous sort, created and hosted an adventure travel show called Stranded with Cash Peters. Naked in Dangerous Places: The Chronicles of a Hungry, Scared, Lost, Homesick, but Otherwise Perfectly Happy Traveler was so hilarious that I drove my husband slightly crazy by reading several sections of it to him aloud. Naked in Dangerous Places is a travel memoir of the year Cash Peters spent traveling and making Stranded for the Travel Channel. The premise of Stranded was that Cash would be dropped into different places around the world without any money or knowledge of the place and would have to get meals and lodging for the night FOR FREE. Cash reveals how this innovative "reality" travel show was actually made. And, believe you me, it is eye-opening! Cash chronicles trips to locations as diverse as Solvang, California; Tanna Island in Vanuatu (in the South Pacific); Barrow, Alaska; Dubai; Morocco; and Lesbos (not to mention a few other exotic locales!). Buy this book! Naked in Dangerous Places has that rare, wonderful combination of funny and touching. Once I started reading Naked in Dangerous Places, I could barely think or talk about anything else. Cash Peters has a unique voice. It's addictive! If you love this book (and who wouldn't?), get Gullible's Travels: The Adventures of a Bad Taste Tourist by Cash Peters, too, which chronicles his life as a travel journalist *before* Stranded with Cash Peters. The man is a genius!
