The third of Monica Dickens'' autobiographica l books describes her time as cub reporter on the Downingham Post, a long established small-town paper with a steady cir culation and not much sympathy... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Monica is the granddaughter of "The" Dickens. In this book, together with the books One Pair of Hands and One Pair of Feet she details the varied jobs she did when young. In this book she is a junior at a small publishing house, in the days of hot-metal typesetting. There are very funny stories - I remember particular the one where they find a mistake in a word but it is too late to reset the page so they use a hammer to smudge and blur the word and hope nobody notices!
