Get Bent for God

Reviewed by Mike Sopp for Reader Views (7/06) There are a lot of great books about having Jesus Christ as your personal Savior on the market. If you have read any of them you know a lot of them are written by pastors or theologians, and while have many benefits towards reading them they often read like they are sermons, and the stories revealed are often second hand stories. Excellent, important, and certainly wonderful to read, but sometimes missing a real personal tie in. But with "My Soul Got Bent" by Dr. Hans Peterson, you have the wonderful personal story of someone's personal experience with the Spirit. The Subtitle of the book says it best, "The Practical Leading of God's Spirit That Changed the Path of My Life." Dr. Peterson's writing style is such that you have a feeling you are sitting across the room from him listening to him tell his story and his family's story starting in Minnesota in 1933 and ending in Texas some seventy years later. In the process of reading this book I was continuing my own steps towards listening to His Spirit, going thru some intensely personal issues in my life. Dr. Peterson relates many times when he had gone through similar times, but knew that He would provide. That really gave me comfort, while also speaking to me in straight matter of fact terms that I appreciated. Dr. Peterson and his families needs were met many times when their needs were met e even when logic said it just couldn't happen, and many more times when the Sprit of the Lord lead them to places where they never would have imagined, doing things that they never would have expected. The title refers to the idea of just not accepting Christ as your Savior and Lord, but researching it, studying the Bible, understanding the implications of the choice that you made. In the process of reading this book my own soul was bent, and that's exactly what should be accomplished by this book. I wish I had the pleasure of knowing Dr. Peterson and his family, reading his book has truly been a blessing to my life.

Wow! What an inspirational book!

This was such a wonderful book. I recommend this book to everyone, and I mean everyone. It has been a long time since I read such a great book. Buy it, it is worth the money.
