Light, with Heavy Implications

This tale is adventurous and suspenseful. The story itself is probably not all that plausible, but that's irrelevant. It could happen. The events that take place in route to taking Lisa home keep you reading, wondering what will happen next. I wouldn't say that there's a suspension of disbelief required by any means, however. The implications, however, are disturbing. First, there's the subject of how Lisa came to need rescue in the first place, because there are a lot of children who disappear, never to be found. And in this, I think Jimmie's unconcerned statement about them being stolen when they're young, sold to some stable to be put out on the street when they're older, (and then some third progression that I can't remember) is gruesome as he winds up the statement with "...but by then there's not much left of them." Meaning their spirit of course. Unfortunately, the reason that tale is probably implausible is so very few people would react as Peter did, and then stick to his word. And if so, what are the odds they'd make it through the events engendered by the person who decides to come after them? But then again, everyday people are heroes all the time - TV shows and Reader's Digest love this theme. But would someone take it this far? One would hope so. And in that, I think there's a great cross section of human nature in here - from Eric and Jimmie to Ken, to Isiah and Billy Joe, as well as Sal and Larkin, and Eddie - none of whom are over characterized, in my opinion. It was a nice balanced read. An entertaining story that doesn't make too light of a nasty subject, but one that certainly doesn't let you dismiss it either.

The best book I've ever read!!

I picked this book up at the library the other day, it only took me 3 days to read it!! Where as normally a couple of weeks. I could'nt put it down!! Its full of suspence, and just when you think he's finally on his way to bring Lisa back something happens again!!

A wonderful story!

This is a book you can't put down until it's finished and then you wish it wasn't over. The hero is so good and noble but still a very real person. I recommend this book to everyone.

I could not put the book down!

What a story! Could this (does this) realy happen? I loved the way the author told his story. I finsihed the book in one sitting because I could not wate to see what happened next. This is a truely riveting and disturbing tale that leaves you smiling in the end!

Thought Provoking.

This is one of the best books I have read. Alexander writes a heartwrenching story of one man's journy to take an abused little girl to her rightful home. I highly recommend this book to readers 15 and up. It'll make you think.
