Pendleton couldn't believe his ears. He'd taken this new job hoping to make money, not marry into it! But if runaway heiress Kit McClellan didn't agree to enter into wedded bliss soon, the entire family fortune could be willed to the homeless pets of Louisville. Someone had to find Kit and bring her back as his finace--and his boss was telling Pendleton he was just the man for the job.
Initially, when I read the back of this book..I found that I wasnt in the least bit interested....for some reason though, I picked it up and decided to have a looksey....and that was that..I was hooked!! What a fun story. Pendelton was so sweet and sexy..and Kit...oh Kit!! I have to say she was an original..what a strong personality..I was afraid Id hate her at first..boy was I wrong!! I just loved this..and the way that Pendelton proves his love for Kit is unbearably adorable!! The last 2 paragraphs of this book had me gasping in delight!! READ THIS!! You wont be sorry!
What fun!

I thought this book was very enjoyable, and quite a bit different from many of the romances I've read in recent years. Ms. Bevarly has a very wry sense of humor, to be sure, but she kept me laughing. This was the first book I've read by this author, but it certainly won't be the last.
A Charming and Funny Read!

I loved this book. I have to disagree with some of the amateur "reviewers" who didn't like Kit. Sure, she could be a brat at times, but boy, was she motivated! I'm so tired of reading about noble, flawless heroines I can't identify with. I mean, look at GONE WITH THE WIND! Who do you remember? Scarlett or Melanie? I hope Ms. Beverly writes many more heroines I can identify with and many more heroes like Pendleton that I can swoon over!
What a fun and charming read!

Wow! This book was really fast-paced and funny. I could identify with Kit and I was drooling over Pendleton. Another thing I couldn't get over was the quality of the writing. I love writers who don't "talk down" to their audiences, but have lots of cultural allusions, etc. It was like watching an episode of BUFFY, THE VAMPIRE SLAYER or something. Great job, Ms. Beverly!
witty!

I throughly enjoyed reading this book. The lead characters make you laugh almost the entire length of this novel. This book is absolutely refreshing. This is the kind of novel that makes you upset when someone calls you while you are reading it. If you have to chose between books, this is the one. What a fabulous read.
