Loved the cat

This author, who is also Carol Otten, never fails to give a good read. I loved this setting and the funny antics of the lovers and the cat.

A very good Americana romance

As a child in 1877 St. Augustine, a heartbroken Isabel Farley felt she only had her mama, her magical cat Grimalkin, and the "legend" to help her through her unhappiness. Her stepfather Wooster could not care less about someone else's child even though he married the widow mother. When her madre suddenly dies, Isabel feels totally alone in the world. Her sole feeling towards her vicious stepfather is fear.By 1888, Isabel is an herbalist struggling to make a living. She sells her lone asset, the post building to a Philadelphian before learning that Cooper Adair plans to open a pharmacy that will compete with her trade. Already irate by her failure to meet and greet him upon his arrival, Cooper is shocked by how much he wants to kiss Isabel, an emotion he cannot explain to himself let alone his fiancee. As Isabel and Cooper fall in love, she realizes that Grim has used his magic to bring the two humans together. Though she wants Cooper to leave she also wants his hugs and wonders if she can overturn Grim,s magical matchmaking.MY LOVING FAMILIAR is simply an entertaining, fun to read Americana romance that uses the elements of magic and love to tell a very good tale. The story line is a humorous romp that paints a vivid picture of late nineteenth century Florida. The lead characters are intriguing as they struggle between what they think is right and what feels so right. C.J. Card grades an ace with this novel that will leave the audience fully satisfied and desiring more fairy tales featuring Grim.Harriet Klausner
