Truly deserves 10 stars!

My Little Girl by Tim McGraw and Tom Douglas is a winner-it truly deserves ten stars! What a perfect book for fathers and daughters to read together. The well written story catches you from the beginning with print in ice cream colors and real life illustrations-no perfect little princess here! Katie's choice of apparel and pig-tailed hairdo are exactly what a modern day princess would look like. Kudos to the illustrator Julia Denos. I love the part of the story with Katie's phrase "love you more". It's such a simple little phrase, yet so meaningful. " Love you more" is what my granddaughter always ends her good-byes with whether on the phone or in person. I also liked bedtime with Katie's daddy telling a real life story where Katie gets to add the story parts she knows . As a former kindergarten teacher each student in my class made "An Important Book" about the fun things they did with their parents. Almost always they remembered moments plain and simple just like the things Katie and her dad did in the book. I would have loved sharing this book with my students to help spark their writings and illustrations. The greatest gift you can give a child is time spent one-on-one, experiencing the things you do together. Hats off to Tim McGraw and Tom Douglas for reminding us that kids only need spending time with a parent to create lasting memories. It's a must-have book for every daddy with a little girl.

Bought This Book For Our Son To Read to His Daughters

We bought this book for our son to read to his daughtes as we are all fans of Tim McGraw. The illustrations are darling and the story is great. We all love reading the book to them.

My little girls' favorite

My little girls love reading this book before bed and ask for it every night. They love this cute story about a little girl's day out with her daddy. She's anxiously awaiting her special day with her daddy thinking there's going to be all kinds of plans but finds herself disappointed when her dad plans to just wing it. As the day goes on she realizes this is the best way to spend the day with her daddy because the important part is the time spent with daddy not what they are doing. In the end she has the best day ever! I definitely went into it with low expectations given the "star power" behind the book but was pleasantly surprised. The story is well told and the drawings are excellent. We like the message in the book (especially me, the daddy of my little girls) and that they enjoy it so much.

Wonderful father and daughter story

Tim McGraw wrote a fun but simple story of a father and daughter spending the day with one another. They do nothing in particular, but the entire day is special to them. They look at animals, dance, swing, and look at the clouds. This book shows the great bond that a father and daughter have. Julia Denos has done a beautiful job with the illustrations. They are colorful and fun to look at. The end of the book has a page where a dad and daughter can write about their own special day. This book will be a favorite for little girls.

The Gift of a Father's Time

The most important gift a father can give this his children is time. My Little Girl follows a father and daughter through the activities of a "nothing in particular" day that becomes something spectacular for her. Through the lively watercolors by Julia Denos, Katie joins her day for a trip to the coop where she plays with the chicks and bunnies, then they share a lazy time on the grass picking cloud shapes from the sky. Lunch becomes a word game with alphabet soup. The day ends with the father sharing his daughter's bedtime routine and a special story to send her into dreamland. Inspired by the song from the movie "Flicka", which was sung by Tim McGraw and composed by Tom Douglas, the book celebrates the father-daughter bond. Faith Hill in the foreword provides a glimpse in the home life she shares with Tim McGraw and their three daughters, where it appears fiction is pretty close to fact.
