Nobody warned him it would be like this. So he's keeping a journal this year - maybe that way he can make sense of all the crazy things that have been happening to him. This description may be from another edition of this product.
I have been an educational therapist for 46 years and have worked mainly with dyslexic boys. "My Life In The Seventh Grade" is one of my favorite books to read with middle grade (5th-8th) kids, boys in particular. The author writes in the first person and is supposedly writing a book while in the seventh grade about his experiences at his school in Skokie, Illi- nois. The book tells about his teachers, both good and bad, his friends, his crush on a girl, his fear of a delinquent peer who eventually becomes a friend, and what middle school is like. The book pulls no punches. It is very realistic about insensitive teachers, science projects, sports, and sexual feelings beginning. The book is funny at times, sad at times, and expresses much of the anxieties that early adolescent boys experience. It is a great read, and adults who like a good childrens book won't be disappointed.

My Life in the Seventh Grade was actually the first book I read by myself. Without anyone telling me or making me. I enjoyed the comical yet true to life description of a young man finding his way into the world (his school). This book related to me and my situation at that time. Of course I was in seventh grade and life was simpler then that it is now. But somehow this book was an escape for me. I'd read till I fell asleep or my dad would tell me to do my homework."I didn't even watch tv".(miracle) I coudn't put the book down because it always put me on suspense. Each chapter more intreging than the previous one. I also loved the humorous aspect and the detail description of the book. This book ,I think, opened my eyes to the world of reading.
