Georgeous slice of Americana

What a beautiful read this was! I tend to be cynical in nature, as a result of the daily negative stream of "rotten" deeds reported in the daily news cycles. So, to find myself teary eyed and moved by this book caught me by total surprise. Truly, this book made me feel like a kid again, back when the world seemed more kind, and when the norm was to just be kind to others and to let that ripple outwards for no reason other than the kindness itself. The author has this concept down in spades, and the effect is that she makes you want to be a better person. She, also, writes in a way that never gives away what's coming around the corner, and so you share all surprises with the main character along the way. And in a super cool way of being humble, the author never states the obvious... That "My Friend Esther" would have surely been the title of Sam's memoir. I totally recommend this book! It will make you feel great about life and other humans again.
