Lovers of L.M. Montgomery's writing might be intrigued by her letters to a writer in England. They start out with her providing literary mentoring to him and then the correspondence develops into a friendship. I found it a bit slow at first and then my interest picked up when she wrote about her work on Anne of Green Gables and the sequels. Her descriptions of Prince Edward Island are quite appealing. Her letters show an urgency with the sinking of the Lusitania and the events of world war one. There are some family photos, but I wished for more.

"My Dear Mr. M" is a collection of letters L. M. Montgomery wrote to Mr. G. B. MacMillan, a fellow writer. In the letters, the reader gets glimpses of how Montgomery felt about her own work, as well as mentions of contemporary reviews. Very interesting, for books that went on to become classics. Likewise, we get Montgomery's (somewhat brief) opinions on WWI, WWII, and other events that changed the century. A must-read for fans of Montgomery.
