This is a story of a 'tug of war' between hope and despair. The phrase originally meant a severe contest for supremacy, in legend between light and darkness. In Clay's case, the cast of characters he meets on his travels across America, who pull him toward hope or despair. Four years after witnessing the murder of his fiancée during a robbery, Clay Mathews realizes revenge is not possible as the killer has disappeared. He directs his desire for vengeance toward a man he considers most deserving, the host of a reality TV show, My America. Forced out of self-imposed isolation by a violent confrontation, Clay is thrust into action and human interaction. He travels with his only persistent social contact, Lauren, across America to kill the host of My America, Ken Klayton, during his live season finale in Las Vegas. People may argue about the faults and merits of the nation however, it's difficult to argue that America's not fascinating. How best to cover a country of unique landscapes and people. A road trip where the main characters forgo motels and stay with real families. Ten episodes of the reality show My America ramp up in intensity, as does the emotion between Clay and Lauren.
