Haunting . . . . . .

I encountered this book while enrolled in a Women's Studies class called Sex Work, Sex Trafficking & Human Rights. The scenarios painted by Boice were uncomfortably-disturbingly real. The anomalous attitude of Gilbert's parents and deviant sexual behaviors of the players created a voyeuristic tension throughout the reading. I happen to fancy Boice's writing style of extremely detailed sentences. Admittedly he did tend to go on, and on, and on but that's part of what absorbed my interest. As others mentioned, it was weird how he referred to some players by their real names and others by fake names. I would be curious to hear his explanation for this. Overall I found this to be an excellent story that I will recommend to others.

Extraordinary Book by an Extraordinary Author

The author of MVP is surely one of the finest writers around -- for instance, who else could describe two hefty female white airline employees as "women who know how to properly train big dogs and keep sliced deli meat in the fridge." His writing about the lead-up to 9-11 is haunting. Overall this is a very fine piece of fiction, one of the best I have read in years. It is a shame that so far the main stream book reviewers have all but ignored it. This book ranks leagues ahead of our "best sellers" today.

Absolutely Amazing Life Changing Novel

Extremely entertaining and well-written novel. I highly recommend it. I would give it 6 stars if I could
