A Lovely Book

As an African American who is also a Christian, it is very hard to find books that represent me as one or both, but this book did it! It is truly a pager turner and offers a great history lesson on Haiti, Frederick Douglas, and Paris,France. I couldn't put it down! It was wonderful to read on the unfolding of Lauren and Roget's love. Although the book starts out to be a slow read, that quickly changes, and once it does, you're sure to stay up all night reading it! Kudos to Patricia VAughn fo her wonderful work!...

Once you started to read it you won't want to put it done!!!

It is such a good book that I bought it. This book contains everything and a lot more that a book should have. It is suspenseful to see what will happen next. Patricia Vaughn is an excellent writer and I too hope she will make a series. Thank you for writing this beautiful book. Karaak

UNIQUE, INTRIGUING, AND POWERFUL... THIS BOOK HAS IT ALL

The Caribbean Islands and France are seldom written of from a Black middle and upper class perspective. To have read such an enlightening and educational book was satisfying, and I hope I don't have to wait longer for another one. Lauren and Roget were very "realistic" characters. They had love, passion, romance, heartache, doubts, and drama like normal relationships have. I would like to read a series based on the de Martiers. Annalisa

This is a keeper. Great multi-cultural romance!

If you like historical romances you'll love Murmur of Rain. Hard to believe this is only her first book. The story is a long one, but I like that she took time to develop the plot. I never lost interest. The fact that the hero and heroine are of African descent is a bonus. This book is what a historical romance should be--a romance combined with an interesting history lesson. Also liked the setting--France and Haiti. I'm truly tired of historicals set in England.
