A Classic Pageturner

This is classic page turner. With all twists and turns, you have no idea until the very last couple of pages who-dunn-it. I could hardly put it down. For all you mystery lovers out there, this is a must read! I also enjoyed that the book touch on varius subjects, such as history and mythology. It broadens and deepens the story.

Nicholas Hazel is an accomplished and intelligent professional who now shares his wit, charm and vast knowledge of both geography and the history surrounding the area in this thriller of a murder mystery set in Tuscon. Set up against the majestic Santa Catalina Mountains the reader can vividly see the beauty of the area as well as an understanding for the complexities of the many characters. His style of writing is both captivating and educational. As the story unfolds you find yourself not wanting to put the book down as you can see the tangled web that has been woven. More importantly you will change your mind many times as to who actually committed the murder(s) until it is revealed. A MUST read. I can not wait until Mr. Hazel blesses us with another thrilling tale.

Rich in Suspense, Character, Humor, and Drama

Set in the southwestern U.S., this mystery draws on the area's compelling culture, history, and landscape. As a resident near where the story is set, I am captivated by the factual basis of the Tucsonian characters, their realistic gathering spots (I've had lunch in some of the same places), and the peculiar dramas that ensue when they meet. Above all, as a can't-put-it-down mystery, I found it inescapable. Multiple murders transpire, and the reader is led through a labyrinth of motives, love triangles, business rivalries, and seemingly inexplicable occurrences. It is simply the best of its genre that I've read in many years. I hope to see more from Nicholas Hazel soon!

A classic murder mystery for the discriminating reader

Murder in Mountain Lion Canyon is a classic murder mystery without the distraction of blood and gore. A well orchestrated story with interesting characters set in the Southwestern part of the United States. The sophisticated writing style reminds me of P.D James. You will enjoy the character development and the history lesson. Great read!
