Only one problem with Munsch
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 16 years ago
I have always loved reading Robert Munsch to children. Now that I have my own (3 1/2 year old) I love reading even more. The stories are hilarious to my son and he wants to read them every day. The only problem is that in almost every story, the adult male is smoking either a pipe or a cigar. We often talk about smoking and how unhealthy it is and that sometimes adults make bad choices. I would rather not have that conversation around children's literature.
Great book for young kids

I teach preschool children and they love Robert Munsch stories, and they loved this collection of his stories. I purchased the book just yesterday and we read all of the stories today, after I read one they begged me to read another and another. They loved all the stories inside this book. I definetly recommend this book to parents and teachers.
Munschworks is great

Robert Munch has done all teachers and parents a favor bycompiling some of his more popular stories into onecollection. Children at my school love it when I take out this book. Munschworks is a great tool to involve young children in emergent literacy. The stories "Thomas' Snowsuit", "David's Father" and "I have to go" really get the children involved in the telling of the story which instills begining reading skills in the young reader. The children have these stories read to them so much that they end up memorizing the story and they can tell it to you. The children also like the silliness of "The paper bag princess" and like to make up different endings for this story. The idea to put five Munsch stories together is a wonderful one. Michael Martchenko and Munsch make a great tag team in the world of children's literature. The children in my classroom can't agree more. END
