"By the Laws of Magic...!"

I feel like the first chapter starts off a little slow but once things get moving this is an amazing ride that just won't stop! The monsters, the magic, the mayhem, the mystery, everything about it is so much fun. Forget Ghostbusters, I want these boys to investigate my paranormal crises. There's a lot of world building and magic law explaining, (which slows down in the further volumes,) that is very necessary and not done in the same way twice making each explanation a fun lesson. The art for each ghost is unique, matching each of the spook's personalities and reasons why they're haunts. The characters are mysterious folks, especially Muhyo, and I really want to learn more about how Muhyo and Roji came to become a team. And what is up with all of Muhyo's rules, I'm sure it will be explained later and that most of them are all actually for Roji's benefit. (Muhyo likes to play the tough guy, but I think he is actually a big (little) softy.) It also carries a Halloween vibe which I find similar to Soul Eater. All in all, a fun series that I look forward to unraveling the many mysteries of Muhyo and co..

Never Too Serious

A friend of my moms got me the last Jump magazine printed. An ad promoting this is how I learned of it. I never saw it in a store and was not even sure if it got here. I picked it and found it pretty fun. Roji is a cool foil for Muhyo, whose weird faces are pretty scary on their own. The ghost, I thought would be goofy looking, are pretty jarring at times at how scary and daunting they are. The evolving escalation of the story reminds me of Supernatural, guys saving people from ghosts and ghouls making jokes along the way. Fun series, totally reccomend to newbies, as it is simple and actually bears depth as it unfolds.

Great Story and art

THe story line is great the surprises are everywhere and the ghost are spooky. The art is cute and scary at the same time a thing I thought that couldn't be possible.

This one you gotta read!

Muhyo & Roji's Bureau of Supernatural Investigation is without a doubt one of the best manga's I have read it involes Ghosts, Demons, Magic, and Law Inforcement (of the spirital kind). Not only that but it keeps you entertained with it's brilliant story lines and comic relief. This is a series that I would recommend any body who likes storys like Yu*Yu*Hakusho or BLEACH that invole spirts and such. And so this is a really great manga to fallow through (Volume 2 comes out December 4, 2007)

Interesting new Shonen Manga--great ideas--worth a try

Muhyo and Roji is a great concept for a Shonen Manga. Instead of teen ninja's or shinigami this features a pair of Teen or Young Adult (I personally think it's the latter hence why the artwork is more cartoony than the typical shonen) Legal Exorcists who attempt to stop out of control ghosts from wreaking havoc beyond their normal means. This is a refreshing volume as the trials and tribulations are unique for each monster that muhyo and roji take on--one deals with lost friendship, another is about possession and the best (the last story) is the creepiest featuring a young stalker. There is no heavy horror here..think more like Goosebumps. That said, there is plenty of room for unique storytelling as the situations do get tense and frightening while Muhyo and Roji both have very shonen character traits as a mean-spirited loner and good-hearteded dunce respectively. There is a hint of a larger conspiracy to come which is good news as this series in Japan is up to 12 volumes and we all know SJ series start to get serious around volume 7. That said, this isn't a particularly funny manga..unlike Gin Tama which is hilarious and allows readers to enjoy it on so many levels. Definitely worth checking out and a great read for fans of shonen style manga but who are tired of pirates, ninja and shinigami.
