Puts a Smile on Your Face

Some books have magic in them. You know the ones. They stay with you long after you've closed the cover. The rhythm of Ryland's words along with Howard's whimsical illustrations will have you "zinging pears" right along with Mr. Putter. The Mr. Putter series is just about as good as children's writing gets. You can't go wrong with any one of them. But this one is our favorite.

Charming, sweet and funny children's book

I brought this book to my daughter's Kindergarten class for story time and all of the children were completely enthralled while I read it to them. They particularly loved the way Mr. Putter made a sling shot out of a gift from his brother (poodle boxer shorts). This is a really sweet book, showing people being very nice and considerate, while at the same time it's very funny.

A charming and funny tale about aging.

A wonderful way to heighten a child's awareness of aging. The story is funny, yet treats the main character with dignity. It has enough repetition to allow word-recognition by a four year old. The illustrations are priceless. It was a hit at preschool storytime.

Awesome

The Mr. Putter and Tabby series has got to be the best overall series of books for children, and the adults who have to read the same books to those children over and over and over again. Mr. Putter and Tabby's adventures, especially this one, are a welcome respite to parents entirely bored with Arthur, the Critters and their ilk.

Zing! We love it!

Too many childrens' books are repetitive and rote, unimaginitative or too clever. The Mr. Putter books manage to be sweet, original, entertaining, and just a joy to read. It's debatable who likes this more -- my daughter or me. I highly recommend this book.
