This is one of many books I purchased to start our library before our children were born. The other day we rounded up all our fall/Halloween themed books and this one was my 2 1/2 year old son's favorite by far! He brings it to me every night before bed. We have one or two other "Mouse's First" books which hopefully he will find as intriguing as those books' seasons approach.
Adorable Halloween book for Toddlers!

My 2-1/2 year old loves this book! Even though the recommended age is 4-8, this book is perfect for younger toddlers. The story is simple and short, perfect for toddlers, and the pictures are cute too. The mouse hears different noises on Halloween night and finds out that nothing is scary. I plan to get all the Mouse's First.. books.
Great Preschool Halloween Story

I love this little book! My daughter and I read this at the library, and she was entranced, and it's nowhere near Halloween. Each time the mouse gets frightened by a noise or a shadow or some other Halloween-related thing, there's a cute little (literally, written little) "Eek, mouse squeaked!" But the book goes through how each Halloween item, in and of itself isn't scary afterall (bats, jack-o-lanterns, scarecrows and more). The final though is that it's fun to be "scared" on Halloween. I've seen child after child weighing the fun aspects of Halloween against the scary, and this book is a great way to help them come down on the side of fun. And even when it's not Halloween, each item offers a cute guessing game trying to figure out what the item is that my little 2-year old loved! Highly recommended.

This is the most requested Halloween story in our house. The pictures are very inviting and fun. The text is catchy and interactive. Babies, toddlers, and preschoolers all love this cute story.
Cute non-scary Halloween story

This story would be great to read aloud to preschoolers. It has good "sound effects", and the illustrations depict nighttime without being scary. The little mouse hears and sees different things and is at first scared, but then realizes that there is nothing to be frightened of. Children will also have fun guessing what is going to appear on the next page based on the sounds and shadows shown.
