This is an endearing story about a boy who finds a lost tiny field mouse in his family's barn. He takes it to his room and takes care of it until it is time for the mouse to be set free. You will shed a tear or two on reading this heartfelt book, as there is communication in the minds of both the mouse and Tim, communicating to one another. A definite good book to buy and keep forever.
a great book

I can tell from the small number of reviews how well-known this book is. I think the only people who know about it are the ones who grew up with it, as I did. This book was my first experience with the sadness of separation, and probably the first and most memorable life lesson I ever got from a book. I cried every time my mom read it to me, (and honestly it still makes me well up just thinking about it) but I begged her every night to read it again. It's such a touching story. If you were blessed enough to happen upon this book, BUY IT! By far my favorite children's book ever. I lost my copy when our house burned. I was six and I still remember the way this book made me feel. I didn't know the title but I remembered the story and the boy's name, and by some miracle found it and bought it for my daughter's first Christmas. I'm more excited about this book than all the presents under the tree combined!

This was one of my favorite books when I was little. I use to check it out of the school library over and over again. I love how you get to see the story from the point of view of both characters, the boy and the mouse. I can't wait to read this to my daughter!
A classic; Mouse and Tim

A classic- every child should have this on their bedside table. Told in two voices, that of the mouse and of the boy Tim, the story covers the themes of discovery, friendship, love, separation, and seeing the world through another's eyes. I cannot recommend this book enough-It provides a great base for thoughtful conversation on all levels. I would even consider using this in the classroom as tool for discussing the above mentioned themes.
If you've ever loved an animal..

This is one of the sweetest children's books I've ever read. It chronicles the brief relationship between a boy and an abandoned baby barn mouse that he raises until it's grown. The narration flips back and forth between the way the boy views their friendship and the way the mouse views the same friendship from a completely different perspective. I was given this book as a small child and I still have the same copy now as an adult, even though it has been through a house fire.. when I went back to scour through what was left, it was one of the few things I took, damaged though it was.
