Touching

Lurlene McDaniel sure ought to be proud of herself for writing such a sensational book. In Mourning Song, Dani, sister of brain tumor possessing Cassie, takes her from the hospital where she is receiving treatments to Florida so that she can see the ocean after her sister's negative prognosis. McDaniel uses plenty of emotion to get her point across: Live each day to the fullest: it may be your last chance. One turnoff was the characters. I found them to be extremely annoying and irritating, but this is a small price to pay for such a magnificent novel. The story was very sad, tears rolled down my face all day when I thought not only of poor Cassie, knowing that these were her last days alive, but of how their mother payed tousands and thousands of dollars so that her daughter had some hope. I thought of Dani, risking arrest as well as her mother's anger and hysteria to bring Cassie to Florida. And I thought of Austin risking the same as Dani. I thought of how grateful I'd be if people were that nice. This book is so touching. Read it!

A Mourning Song

.... The two lessons for life in the book Morning Song are to do things for others before yourself and to live each day to the fullest because you never know waht life may bring the next day. A lesson I learned during this book is to give to others rahter than to recieve things. In this book, Dani's older sister Cassie has a brain tummor and is undergoing radiation and chemotherapy treatments to try and help the tumor shrink. Their mother is paying for all the treatments and working overtime just so that Cassie can get the best treatments. THis shows that her mother is putting Cassie before herself and doing what is best for Cassie rather than what is best for her. Another example of this lesson is when Danis boyfriend, Austin helps make Cassie's dream come true by driving her to Florida to see the beach. Austin did this for Dani and Cassie and didn't think about the consesquences that could happen to him. He could get punished for taking his parents car, and not telling thme where he was going and arrested for kidnapping someone out of the hospitol. Austin did this just so that Cassie could have one last wish that she wanted. Since Cassie is very sick and will soon die, and she wanted to go to the beach, he took her. Feeling good about themselves, Dani and Austin drove back home after Cassie Died. They both were happy that they helped Cassie make her dream come true before her life was over. That is why it's better to do things for others before yourself. You can feel just as good, if not better, if you make others days. Another life lesson i learned from reading this book is to live each day to the fullest because you never know when your last day on earth may be. Showing a great deal of love, Dani visited Cassie everday in the hospital and slept there sometimes to make sure she spent as much time as she could with her sister before her sister was gone. Dani made the most of life. Her father died when she was younger and now her sister was dying. Bad things ahppen, but you have to move on and not cling to them. If you don't make the best of every day you could be missing out on a lot of things. If Dani hadn't visited Cassie everday, she wouldnt have had as many memories with her as she does now. IF people don't learn to cherish and treasure everday and make each day count then they wont live life to the fullest. You never know when your last day will be, so you wante to make everday count. Today could be your last day. Dani tought me that lesson and i would never forget to make sure something amazing happens each day. Mourning Song is definetely a book I would recommend reading. I enjoyed it very much and it taught me the lessons aboe. Put others before yourself sometimes and make everday of life count. Dani is a character that reminds me of some of my friends and what they would do or sacrifice for others. She has the same outlook of many people my age and is a good role model or teacher for life le

A book about a dying sister and her fight to stay happy.

This book is awesome. It touches your heart and soul, and makes you think about life, and to appreciate it. My one wish is to meet Mrs.McDaniel. She has inspired to go on and live life in the fullest. My mother has a brain tumor ( I am 12 years old) and it shows me I should give my all to make her happy. This book is a dying girls last wish before she passes on, and how it comes true.

A wonderful book you can't put down til the last page!!!

I've read many books by Lurlene McDaniel. She is a wonderful author. It makes you realize what a precious gift life is. I myself have Crohn's Disease, and these books really inspire me to keep going. If your looking for a great book I reccomend this book!!!! Too Young to Die is also a great book as all of Mrs. McDaniel's books are. If you like Mourning Song you'll love this book. I give it five ***** stars!!!

This book is a must for all McDaniel fans!!

I have and have read nearly all of Lurlene's books, and this one is by far the best. Mourning Song is about a girl (Cassie) who has a brain tumor, and is going to die, it's just a matter of time. Cassie has always wanted to go to Florida, but her mother won't let her go. One day, Cassie receives an anonymous letter, and with it a check for $10,000. Cassie decides to tell Dani (her sister)about the letter, and when Dani finds out about the letter, she decides to sneak Cassie out of the hospital and take Cassie to Florida. While the sisters are in Florida, they're mother has no clue where they are, until they call her, and when they're mother comes to Florida, she brings Cassie's doctor, and if you want to find out the rest, you know what to do...
