A 12 Year-Old Seeks to Avenge His Parents' Deaths During W.W.II

This was my son's favorite book when he was about 10 years old. It is a very touching story of a twelve year-old Jewish boy who loses his family in World War II. He joins the partisans and fights the Germans to avenge the deaths of his family and the Jews. The novel is about the partisans and boys growing to manhood during a time heavy with death, terror and loss. The book also deals with questions of faith, sorrow and loss along with man's quest for live and love despite these things. This is a wonderful book for young adults and older children.

AMAZING - RRRREEEEEAAAAADDDDDDD!

This was an incredibly amazing book! It starts out with Mitka (a.k.a. Mottele) who is a 12 yr. old Jew on the run. He lived in a small village until it was ransacked by Nazis while he was away. The Nazis destroyed his parents, friends, and most importantly, his baby sister. He decides that the only way to avenge his family is to join Diadia Misha's (a resistance group leader) partisans. He soon becomes "adopted" by the leader, and leads an amazing life!

AMAZING - RRREEEAAADDD!

This is an amazing, incredible, fantastic book! It starts out with Mottele (a.k.a. Mitka), a 12 yr. old Jewish boy. He comes from a small village that the Nazis pillaged in one quick motion, killing family, friends, and most importantly, his 4 yr. old sister. Mottele figures the only way to justify his anger and have revenge upon his family's murderers is to become a partisan. He has his heart set on finding the leader of a nearby resistance group, Diadia Misha. If he doesn't, the Nazis will capture him (he lives close to the Nazi headquarters), but if he DOES find Misha, his life will be renewed! READ THIS BOOK!
