A stunning photographic portrayal of the evolution of the motorcycle

An absolute delight for any motorcycle enthusiast. A beautiful pictorial history of the motorcycle arranged chronologically, from the earliest motorized bicycles up to modern sportbikes and cruisers. The emphasis is on the superb color photos, but there is a brief description of specific models and interesting information on the history of the manufacturers and other tidbits about each motorcycle featured. How Doug Mitchel was able to acquire such a collection of beautiful color photo's is a marvel in itself. If there's one criticizm I have it's that only American manufacturers are covered in the early years. It's not until the 1930's that we begin to see imports. This is a small point however because there were a myriad of American manufacturers in the early days of motorcycling and there is only so much room in any historical volume. In all it is a wonderful addition to the library of any motorcycle enthusiast and one that will be opened again and again to view the photos and to travel back in time with them. I loved looking at and reading about the bikes of the fifties, sixties and seventies, many of which I rode in my youth.
