Pretty Darn Useful!

I'm pretty new to the whole knitting thing, so when I got this book I was so excited to read about all these wonderful and very useful knitting tips that, frankly, don't exist all those other knitting books. I learned a lot by just reading Mother of Purl, which by the way, I happen to think is very well written with a witty sense of humor. Edith Eig is famous and let's us have a peek into her store, some really beautiful patterns, and the crazy celebrity world that everyone seems to be so fascinated with! Personally, I'm delighted to own Mother of Purl and make it a permanent part of my knitting book collection.

Very useful book

I am a beginner and find this book to be very helpful as a teaching guide. It's also fun to read and has great patterns that actually work, unlike some other knitting books I've bought. The book also highlights the social aspect of knitting...the simple pleasure of spending quality time with others, connecting in a creative and serene environment--the knitting circle.

Best Knitting Book I've Seen

I loved the book. The patterns were easy to understand, and the book was fun to read. I felt like Edith was talking to me. The designs were so beautiful, I want to make them all! The styles look like something you would find in a fashion magazine. I already enjoy knitting, but this book inspired me.

Just love it!

Finally a book with style that's filled with really lovely and original designs. Easy to follow and Edith's Knit Tips are extremely helpful -- I don't a recall any other book ever offering such "behind-the-scenes" tips on how to improve your knitting. I can't wait for Edith's second book. Count me in ... I'm a huge fan. If you ever decide to buy just one knitting book -- this is it.

Hit the deck running

Yep another get started knitting book. But before you decide you are way beyond beginning, don't you want to learn how the stars learn? The best books are those that tell you what you already know, yet comes at it with a different angle. For those of us that are beginners or perpetual beginners, this book covers every thing from the original cast on to many of the beginning skills needed such as "Saving a Dropped Stitch", and "Measuring Armholes" And is this magazine/book thick? After taking advantage of the information you can use it to sit up higher at the table. The front and back cover have flaps that can be used as book marks so there is no excuse for laying this open and face down. We have the standard glossary, index and recourse list. Did I mention the title is innovative?
