You could spend 5 years in college and not learn half of what's in this book.

This book is a fascinating read for anyone who likes to work, around the house, gardens or does any of those things we all encounter just to get from one day to another. The modern world has been acclimized into believing that if you need something, the only way to get it is to run to a store and buy it. This book takes us back to the days where there wasn't a store just around the corner and one had to be resourceful to survive. That is still true as you become remote but the ideas in this book are just as helpful, even if one lives next door to a Mall, and will save you a ton of money as well as give you a lot of personal satisfaction of "beating the comsumerism";that surrounds us. Just think of the time you will save in solving a problem with improvision rather than heading to the store. I suggest you read through the book and let it change your mindset. We all remember the old guy down the street who could fix anything and knew how to or in pretty short order ,figure it out.It seems our education system has made us stop thinking and if we haven't been taught something, then we are stumped to figure it out for ourselves. In this book we find out how to do all kinds of things, such as; Making Homemade Ice Cream How to use a watch as a compass How to tighten a bolt without a wrench. How to do home canning. How to make Sauerkraut. How to build solar heating. A multitude of uses for common salt. Excellent tips or a home freezer. How to keep garden vegetables all winter. All kinds of great ideas on recycling and conservation. A great section that shows how to convert anything to anything else. How to deal with pests. And that is only a handful of the hundres of things you will learn in the book. But the book has something else even greater about it than that. It will change your whole outlook and convince you that there is a simple, better, less costtly way of going about doing things,if only you put your thinking cap on.
