Book Overview

A unique gift for teachers . . . a play in which an extraordinary assemblage of women speak about war and peace. They speak in clear and compelling language, often with song and poetry, and what they tell their audience both educates and inspires. If Most Dangerous Women were performed in schools across the country, we might well see a new generation of young people dedicated to ending the scourge of war. - Howard Zinn, author of A People's History...

The threat of world peace

This play is great for groups that get together to read aloud, then comment on what they've read. I've participated in several such readings, and have found them inspiring; the only problem is ending the discussion before bedtime. The play can be staged, of course, with the readers reading, what theater pros like the Shaw Theater in Chicago call "a concert reading." Quite effective. With a few good voices (or even adequate ones) and a little piano or violin music, this play will have the people in the audience thinking and talking for days afterwards.
