Moroccan Berber Patrimony: An Aptitude for Transnationalism, Coexistence and Gender Emancipation

This work investigates aspects of Berber's interaction with the various populations that have swept to North Africa throughout history. In other words, this paper presents a comprehensive overview of Berber's cohabitation with ancient and modern civilizations. Putting emphasis on Moroccan Imazighen, this book brings to light major stages of Berber interculturalism with various races along history. This longstanding exchange process is held to enhance Moroccan's aptitude for socio-cultural toleration and global cooperation. It also stands as a background legacy for Moroccan present-day transnationalism and universal coexistence. Moreover, this work sheds light on other aspects of Berber patrimony, mainly in the field of gender issues. It searches Berber female models that have enjoyed noble social and political positions in Amazigh history. It digs out to bring to light significant female figures that marked Amazigh history and its distinguished identity. It builds, therefore, a body of literature- derived from Berber legacy- that vouch for gender and women rights. It also displays how these significant characters may stand as a referential legitimacy for Moroccan female activism. By searching these figures and their historical outstanding importance, this work also calls for reconsidering gender status against ideologies that deny Moroccan women the right to partake in social and political affairs.
