Looking WITH people rather than AT them

This book does three rare things. It shows us people who are often overlooked: the ordinary, local people who together are making a difference. It does this by looking at AIDS and life with the people, rather than just looking at them. And because of this -- may I say humble? -- approach, it is staggeringly honest without ever violating. The author's style is perfectly matched to the subject. At the end of the book I felt more human.
