GREAT

I own several healthy cookbooks and this has become my favorite from the day I purchased it. The recipes are delicious and exactly what I'm looking for when looking for low fat, healthy, tasty recipes. How can you go wrong with Skillet Chicken Paprikash, Beef Stroganoff Bake, Chicken Smothered in Peanut Sauce, Hot Spinach-Artichoke dip, Swedish Meatballs, Stuffed Shells Florentine, Chicken Kiev, and more...it's everything my family loves and I feel great serving it when I know it's healthy. I would also recommend Betty Crocker's Best of Healhty and Hearty Cooking as well as The Complete Cooking Light Cookbook. I refer to these three cookbooks almost every night!

family friendly recipes for a "fat" family

I have to start by saying that every one of these recipes are great! I'm a southern girl with a southern family and southern ways, and these recipes are practically taken from my grammies cookbook(minus the fat,grammie puts bacon grease in everything).One week of eating from these recipes and I've already lost 11 pounds! The ingredients are easy to find and the recipes are so simple that I enjoy cooking again! The aunt boojies chocolate box cake tastes like a brownie(yes its that rich) but has the fluffy texture that makes it good enough to go to a church supper! It replaces my daily little debbie fix and will probably save me from a heart attack! Thank You Evelyn!

A Cookbook I truly use every week.

This book was a gift from my mother, and I must say it is one of the best gifts I have ever received. It is very difficult to find a cookbook that actually has nutritional information. This book has that, and more. The tips and suggestion about how to "overhaul" your family favorites is worth it in and of itself. I now know why my lasagna turned out "soupy" when I used fat free ricotta cheese, and I now know how to fix it.The recipes are simple, they taste delicious, and my friends and family never know they are eating "light." Yes, there are some meals that call for some pre-packaged items (such as refrigerated bread dough) but those recipes are usually in the "15 Minute Recipe" section, so I expect to find these time saving conveniences. The good thing is, you can substitute your own home-made items if you are not fond of the prepackaged. It will just take a little longer to make.I truly flip through this cookbook every week when deciding what to make in the week ahead, and making out my shopping list. The most exotic incredients I found the book to call for was Anchovy Paste (for Ceasar Salad dressing) and Dried Mushrooms (Pasta with Wild Mushroom sauce) both of which can be found in most large super markets.If you are looking for a low fat, healthy cookbook WITH nutritional information filled with recipes that most kids and teenagers won't turn their nose up at, then this book is for you!

The BEST!

This woman is pure genius. I have several low-fat cookbooks on my shelf that will gather dust now that I have three of Evelyn Tribole's cookbooks - one on desserts alone. She has taken several "everyday" recipes and transformed them into lower fat, lower calorie and overall healthier delights. Soooooo tasty too. Nothing she calls for in her recipes will require any special trips to a gourmet grocer - you will find the ingredients in any run of the mill supermarket. Before getting my hands on Tribole's books, I tried several cookbooks from some of the most reputable companies out there. I was becoming discouraged and was near ready to give up on the idea that healthy eating and taste could coincide. One of the coolest things is that Tribole gives away her trade secrets so that you can learn what modifications to make to turn your own recipes into healthier versions. Don't be hesitant because of the lack of familiarity with the author or by the cover images like I was - her books are the BEST!

Fantastic Food

I can't say enough good things about this book!! I bet I have a dozen low-fat or diet cookbooks collecting dust on my shelves because the recipes either don't taste good, they are too difficult to make, or I can't find the ingredients. Everything I have made from this cookbook has been fantastic and quick and easy, too. My husband loves what I cook now, and it is good for us, too. I am planning on purchasing her first Homestyle cookbook and getting rid of all the rest of my low fat cookbooks!
