I fully concur with the person who reviewed "Moontide Embrace" above this one. Although I would go farther by saying it is my favourite romance novel, and also the first I read over ten years ago when I was 13 years old. "Ever since notorious Judah Slaughter had kissed 13 yearold Liberty Boudreaux in thanks for helping him escape (a plot in itself full of betrayal and revenge), she knew there could be no other for her. Now 5 years later the gangly girl had become a breathtaking beauty, ready to find the one who had sparked her passion and show him how much of a woman she'd become."Besides the hero & heroine, the minor characters of Judah's Granfather, Gustave Montesquieu and Judah's mother, Gabrielle are rich and well developed characters, and Liberty's sister Bandera, and Judah's cousin Sebastian are terrific villians for the lovestory...Bandera driven by low self-esteem, jealousy, and a need for power and prestige strikes out at Liberty over and over again but she also demands our sympathy. The innocent misunderstandings that keep Liberty and Judah from admitting their love for one another is truly beautiful and when the two finally come together with complete trust...I swear you'll cry and want to keep this book forever! The storyline takes you from Creole Louisiana in 1811 to Judah's ship 'The Winged Victory'...to the battlefields of America defending itself against the English...to Martinique where Liberty & Judah enjoy moments of seduction in the tropics...to piracy with the barbary pirates. The book is SO hard to find so it's best to buy it here.

I tend to re-read books that I have read before. The maximum I have re-read a book is three times. This one however is different. When I find myself with out something to read I will always pick this book up and read it. The love story between Liberty and Judah is so romantic. The story starts out when Liberty is only 15 years old. She falls in love with Judah but his feelings are for her sister. He is betrayed by Liberty's sister and is left for dead. Liberty saves him. Judah in a fevered state begs to hold Liberty, she give herself to him in a very passionate love scene. He mistakes her for her sister that almost destroys her. Judah then on his way to recovery must escape or be arrested. He leaves but then returns several years later. Again he mistakes Liberty for her sister at a mascarade party. Liberty succumbs to his advances and again they make love. At this point she vows no more. When Judah finaly realizes what a horrible mistake he has made the sparks between the two fly and a great love story occurs. You will love this story.
